californiaalw

californiaalw provides R access to prepared public records for facilities participating in California's Medicaid Assisted Living Waiver (ALW).

The package contains:

• 1,224 facility records across 15 counties;
• public provider names, addresses, telephone numbers and coordinates;
• licensed capacity reported by the California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS);
• county facility and capacity aggregates; and
• statewide enrollment and waitlist context.

The data describe participating supply. Licensed capacity is not the same as current vacancy or the number of funded waiver slots.

Installation

Install the development release from GitHub:

The original source is the DHCS Assisted Living Waiver facilities ArcGIS service. Preparation methods, direct CSV/JSON downloads, caveats, and a browser-friendly county table are available in the California ALW county tracker and companion open-data repository.

The package code is MIT licensed. The prepared data are available under CC BY 4.0; cite both DHCS as the original source and California Care Compass as the prepared version.
